I've stored printers with "cleaning fluid" in them, and it works fine, with the caveat that cleaning fluid is often a lower viscosity version of the clear base. Perhaps due to its lower viscosity, I found dry cartridges in one printer where I used it. It might be slowly running straight through the printer. As such, I'm now mostly using the clear base I use in Carbon-6 ( http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Ink- Mixing.pdf ). It's just distilled water (55% by weight), glyerol (35%) and Photo Flo (10%) -- very cheap and effective.
