I run the same 3MK setup on an R1800. I sometimes get the front paper
feeding problem you describe. Some days to a point of frustration.

Many have described here ways of cleaning the "rubber paper grabbing"
thing. It involves most of the time holding a sort of paper band with
cleaning fluid on it. Or using some cleaning kits:

I never got to doing it yet. I use the front loader for regular paper
to run nozzle checks. All my prints are done on 200+ gsm paper that I
feed from the rear. Even the 5x7 paper... 

Others who cleaned it succesfully will certainly give you more
details. Don't give up!! :-)
