Hello, I am sorry to read about your frustrating experience. Reading that money is tight and that this one will have to do for a year here are my suggestions: 1- Feed it only from the rear with 8.5x11 or larger paper. Make final prints on any high quality paper and proofs and normal prints on cheap matte (yet excellent) PremierArt BW or RedRiver Polar Matte. 2- If you do not need to print in color, next time a color cart gets empty cause of cleaning cycles etc. put your money for this one cart toward empty refillable carts. Fill them with Paul Roark's homemade clear Carbon-6 base (without the Photoflo, so it's a simple mix of distilled water and glycerin U.S.P.). If you cannot find empties, buy cleaning carts from MIS and replace the chips with your Epson cart chips (it's easy and works fine). Chip reseter needed. I've been running my R1800 like this for months and it's the only system-ink type that reliably provides top quality prints. Tried colors, OEM color, diluted expensive grey water etc. and the best from that printer always came with this simple and very innexpensive 3MK+water-glycerin setup.
