Digital BW, The Print

I use an Epson 2400 and a slight variant of Clayton's B&W printing
workflow. I am planning to upgrade CS3 to CS4 shortly. There are a
number of factors around whether I choose this time to switch from the
PC environment to the Mac. On that background, the Mac version of CS4
has 16 bit printing/windows still 14; though I can't determine if my
printer supports 16 bit (Mac OS does support it). Would/should the
difference between 14 and 16 bit printing have no/minor/mod/major
impact on print image quality from customary viewing distances?
