Gray Gamma 2.2 workspace, which is the most common standard, does compress the dark values significantly. That is probably a major part of what is going on. How much light is on the print and on the monitor, and accuracy of profiling -- monitor and printer/paper -- probably also contribute. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
