Richard, I destroyed a 7K series printer loaded with Lyson quad inks when I switched to Cone Quads. They are super not compatible. When they hit pigments it becomes "Lyson Jelly". Not cool. Not good at all! What I would recommend is buying the Cone flush fluid which is the most effective cleansing fluid I've ever used. Then do about 3 initial fills with it in there. This stuff really cleans the system out. After that I would also consider changing the dampers if you can still buy them, and print out a few flush grayscale charts available on Piezo website, making sure all this pinkish flush fluid has completely cleaned the system before putting anything in behind those nasty Lyson dyes. john --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Richard Smallfield <r.smallfield@...> wrote: > > Hi, > I'm considering buying a second-hand printer that currently has a Lyson CIS - I do know that flushing is necessary if I want to use (eg) Cone inks after Lyson, but I wondered if it is possible to flush the Lyson CIS somehow, so I could then use it for Cone or MIS inks? > > (PS - I understand Lyson are dye as opposed to pigment and have inferior fade resistance, correct?) > > thanks, > Richard > > -- > www.richardsmallfield.com > > "You should never use the phrase 'you should'." > -- Tim Veatch >
