Also find out who has the contract for your school, purchasing normally pushing things right through when you are using the contract vendor. I would not hesitate to use one of the Samsung monitors that we have here for photo work, and would of course want to calibrate and profile each one though. With the money available per machine, there aren't too many choices to be made. If you don't already own a calibration/profiling suite, you really should buy one for the site. Our photography department doesn't know the first thing about profiling their monitors, really sad with the amount of money they have spent on good monitors to only use the canned profiles.
