Hi, I do have three CFS's - and had a h-ll before getting changing stright. (One 1290 three CFS's) My method: First i soak the inletspikes gently with a syrenge and a tube to get the foam out of the printinghead. Next - I use destilled water with a drop of dish-washing-fluid - making the water "soft" and adhesive. Gently I fill the headspikes with it - with a syrenge and a tube. (If filled with foam or air - the printer can't soak out the inks from the cartriges) Next step: I soak out the "residual foam" from the cartridges - about 6 cc (take more if neeeded). (I have 6 60 cc syringes ready for that so it rans fast - one for each color) You can see the foam getting out into the syringes. Having them in order and marked with each color. Then I put the cartridges back as soon as possible in it's places. After that I empty the respectively 60 cc syrenges in it's flasks. Wash the syringes carefully and taking every lose detail apart for drying and cleaning (Clean them carefully and keep them safe!) Then (I have a Epsy 1280) I try some headcleaning - they are not perfect but I can see that I'm on the right way. I don't know if I'm stupid - but I have noticed that if I use the three second press on the printerknob (on the printer for cleaning) is doing a better cleaning than the softwarecleaning - and in some half hour I'm doing VM insted of color. It takes some training and you must do it in order mensioned above. If the screens aren't perfect at once - DON'T lift out the cartridges just have some patiens. As a technican this has for me the following advantidges. - You clean the spikeinlets - You draw ink out of the cartrige - not pressing the outletfilter. (Dont take more ink out of the cartridge than that you can see that the foam is out - the cartridge need some air in the top as a buffer) Allways have clean equipment and environment so that you don't contaminate the ink and things in the printer. It took me long to figure out this "simple" method. Take it easy - it's good for the printer to settle for som hours after the first cleaningcycles. I have one printer - three CFS's working - and it works for me. I almost gave up - before I noticed that I could use the printer this way. By the way - the printerheads in 1289(90) has very small inkchambers so you dont have to do lots of purgingprintings - when you have a clean screen - the new colors(inks) are there pure and fine. Anyone else out there doing it better - and have a suggestion for me - then let me hear that - this is fun! Sorry for my english - don't hesitate to ask me for further explantion - if I was not clear enought.
