A major unsung attribute of QTR Create Icc is that it will characterize any monochromatic output system. This is useful in many many ways. One, for example- Assign the profile to your grayscale files, then convert to sRGB for accurate ink/paper hue representation of your prints on line. Whether StudioPrint, TrueB&W, QuadtoneRIP, any number of output systems, it softproofs nicely with Preserve numbers even if it's not used for printing. Conversions can be utilized in any number of ways, standard of course, but also for building special output systems like spot channel setups after everything has been worked out. For my K + spot setups, the action that does the file build for final RIP output includes converting to a profile made from the that final setup, before adding other channels etc.. so luminosity remains accurate even after all the other inks have been added. I also build more patch count charts and reference files, including redundant patches for averaging.. Great tool, endlessly useful, we're all indebted to Roy. Tyler http://www.custom-digital.com/
