OK, here goes.  I am on a PC, I don't know MACs.  
When you install software the installation links your software to the drive.  You cannot just move the folder to another HD.  You have to uninstall it and re-install it.  
Now as far as Photoshop is concerned you may install it on multiple machines.  You may only have it 'activated' on 2 machines.  The concept is for you to have one copy on your desktop machine and one on your laptop.  Before you uninstall PS be sure to 'de-activate' that installation.  If you don't or your system crashes Adobe will make it hard for you get a new activation.  They will give it to you eventually or right away depending on who you get.  Adobe support is quite variable.
My system crashed and I had to deal with getting a new activation.  It was a bear to put it nicely.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
