So the problem is that you never know if the restore of your system disk
will work unless you actually try and successfully do it.
If you have a spare disk I would back up your system disk - replace it with
the spare one and try and restore to it.
Most restore software is a bit picky on PC as to exactly your hardware
config (because there are so many), without doing a restore you'll never
know if your system backup is useful or just a waste of time.
If you don't have a spare disk you can still do a dummy system disk
(partition) restore and take the process all the way until it actually
starts to do the restore. At least that way you'll have a pretty good idea
if your restore software can work with your hardware config (mainly the
problem is hard disk controller /motherboard support).
Personally I use Acronis and it has some quirks, but I found a build that
works with my config and I can be back up and running in 30 - 60mins from a
system disk crash.
