Epson's conduct would have been a relatively easy "tying" case 30 years ago, but that traditional antitrust cause of action has been so diluted (like the finacial & banking laws) that it's not an easy case any more.  The pendulum may swing back, but it'll  be a  slow process.

What probably is still an easy case is where Epson has agreed with a competitor to not deal with a third party.
