I am new to b&w printing. I have an epson r200 with 6 MIS UT inks installed (Eboni black for matt prints). I have been trying unsuccessfully to print a b&w pic from photoshop CS2. Whilst waiting for some matte paper to arrive, I printed on glossy paper. The result was not too bad but not printing dark shadows very well. I then tried matte. It seems to print shadow ok, but there are virtually no grays - just a lot of plain white paper! I've tried gloss again and that seems to be doing the same as well... The image is grayscale. The paper is epson photo glossy and archival matte. The pshop/printer driver settings are as per Paul Roark/Clayton Jones eg Colour settings: working space dot gain 20% North america prepress2 Print with preview: Colour management Colour handling: no colour management R200: matte paper heavyweight(PQIJP is the same result) gamma 1.8 epson vivid all sliders at 0 Is it the printer? I'v tried with grayscale checked as well (same result)
