As a result of a suggestion a couple days ago, I turned off all of the
"Custom Functions II: Image" functions. I had assumed that they would
have no effect on raw files. I was wrong. With an image of a wide-
range scene containing a black dog (Gordon Setter) in a shaded areas,
I pulled up the shadows, revealing a good deal of noise... but no
pattern noise. So that solved my problem. (The noise was mostly
color noise.)
