Probably because it is a new release, unlike the 4880, which has been  
out for some time.

Yes, but which of these two, or some other printer, would be best for  
you depends on what you want it for. Dedicated B&W with specialty  
inks? Mixed color and B&W? Gloss and luster media? Matte/Art media?  
Mixed media? Each of these effects the recommendations significantly.
