Digital BW, The Print

Twice I've got a problem with my 1400 and MIS cartridges - first time during the print suddenly printer stops, starts cleaning, then status window comes up and shows one cartridge became full (probably auto reset), then it continues printing and my print was lost because there was no ink in one cartridge.
The second time suddenly I've got very pale print and after a few cleanings I've realized that the black cartridge was empty.

By the way the last time I've refilled in the printer. It seems to me that the best is to add inks once in a while not waiting for a signal.
