Re: OT-Not [Digital BW] OT - Image Stabilization test

2009-10-12 by Gary Brown

Can we stop using the "OT" as a license to talk about anything and everything. One of the best things about this forum is that it stays very much on topic.
Image stabilization (IS) has nothing to do with Digital Black & White Printing. There are many more appropriate places to discuss IS. On many days lately, it seems that most of the posts from this forum have an OT in the subject field or should have.

I compared tripod v. hand held ("HH") with IS on v. HH with IS off. The results are posted at

The Canon 70 - 200 IS L was used on on the 5d2. All shots are at 200 mm, were shot RAW, are un-sharpened, and are displayed at 100%.

I'd say IS works well with a speed that is at least one over the lens length.
