RE: [Digital BW] Canon 17 inch IPF 5000 printer

Hi Paul,

I took a close look at the cartridges tonight. There does not appear to be
an easy-to-access chip on it. There does seem to be some kind of chip that
is embedded in the plastic shield and notch arrangement which ensure correct
cartridge placement..

Hi Paul,

They must have a chip as they communicate with the printer for a variety of
reasons (ink level, etc.). However, I don't remember seeing the chip
hanging out on the side of a cartridge. There are shaped "plugs" on the
bottom of each cartridge that ensure the right cartridge is put into the
right slot. The chip/communication system must be inside the plastic plug
somehow.

I have not looked at this all that carefully. I will check it out this
weekend and let you know what I find.

George

I assume the carts have some sort of chip on them. Correct?
