> If I understand correctly, you purchased the refillable cartson Ebay, and you are planning to use Paul Roark's 3MK approach using only 100% Eboni? Yes, carts from E-bay. I've purchased from the seller "aaadealalways" both this time and previously with my R280. I was impressed that with the R280 apparently two of the chips were defective and after some debugging on the phone to verify it wasn't something with me/printer he promptly sent out replacements. He also includes syringes for filling. If you don't like E-bay, MIS sells empty chipped carts for just a bit more as well. I've used both the 3MK approach with just 100% Eboni and also an approach Paul used for awhile I think he called 3MK-Y where you use 100% Eboni along with the lightest dilution (the Y channel, around 2% I think). The idea is that by adding the lightest dilution you get very smooth highlights. Because of the small droplet size of the 1400 just these two inks can do the job of four or six inks on other printers. You only have to buy two dilutions, MK and Y which keeps start up costs down (or you can just buy MK and create your own Y dilution using Paul's Carbon-6 approach). Last year when playing with this I posted some questions for Paul you might find by searching. He said he had settled (at that time) on making a profile for 3MK and another profile for 3MK-Y and then in QTR actually using a 50/50 blend of these two profiles. I tried that and was very happy with the results. Of course by now Paul has moved on to other things - luckily for the rest of us he's always experimenting. Ken
