Hi Jean, I'm not as versed as some others about the required maintenance signal, but can tell you that the cartridge block can easily be moved to the left, along the track, by first turning off the 2400, then turning it back on. When the cartridges start to move to the left as part of the initial startup, pull the power plug from the wall and leave the power switch on. You will now be able to freely move the cartridges back and forth. This is the method I've use many times to clean the bottom of the carts with soft paper toweling soaked with Windex solution.
