Hi Thanks for the info. I put the Eboni cartridge back in and the 1400 appears to be printing okay. One thought though - if I put a cleaning cartridge in the black position to clean the printhead and remove the pigment claria mix, does anyone think that it would be feasible to have the Claria black using one print head with the other five pigment cartridges using the other print heads? The Claria black would only be used by itself using QTR. Whilst trying out the Claria black with QTR last night I produced a BO profile for Ilford Gallerie Smooth Gloss. If anybody wants a copy let me know. (It's similar to my UT-14 C & LC profile but more glossy & a bit darker) Jon --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "pr_roark" <roark.paul@...> wrote: > > This is MIS's response concerning the mixing of MIS and Epson carts & chips in the 1400: > > "The chips we are using cannot be used with the OEM chips due to compatibility issues. If you have someone that it is working for it would be the first I have heard of. The OEM Claria and our claria compatible inks both react very poorly with the Eboni inks, and will cause sludge buildup in the priming system that will eventually cause printer failure. All of our chips are the same between the pre-filled and empty cartridges." > > I'm not sure how some MIS chips can be compatible and others not. The Eboni-6 base (not Eboni itself) is also said to be a problem with Epson UltraChrome inks. I suspect the generic C6 type of base avoids some of this. > > Paul > www.PaulRoark.com >
