Bill, I originally bought a set of 3 MIS cartridges and paid the duty etc. I then got the refillables from Marrutt with some of their R8 MK ink which they supply for the 1800 I have now bought a 'pint' of the MIS Eboni & cleaner fluid. The initial outlay is ,I hope, cancelled out by the benefit of quantity. However the Marrutt /Lyson MK gives very good tones. I have also just discovered that my 1800 has been 'eating' my black ink and dumping it in the waste tank !! I have installed an external waste tank, & it is horrifyibg to see just how much goes there, & & mainly black. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "bgrahamuk" <enquiries@...> wrote: > > Hi Chris, > > Did you buy your MIS Eboni from within the UK or did you order directly from the States ? > > It was the shipping costs that put me off so I opted for the Image Specialists pigment ink. > > Best Regards, > > Bill > > --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "bobtail75" <cperfect594@> wrote: > > > > Thank you, Paul. > > I will try the cleaner cart setup. I am using refillable carts thatcome from www.marrutt.com, here in the UK, but have just bought a pint of MIS Eboni & another of the cleaner, so that should keep me going for the forseeable future. > > I look forward to seeing the Aardenberg results. > > I have had no feed problems with my 1800 on Art Papers if I use the rear single sheet feed slot. > > regards, > > Chris. > > > > --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Paul" <paulmwhiting@> wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello Christ, > > > > > > I've had that exact setup for over two years and have been quite happy with it. I use the MIS carts with their cleaning fluid, in the color positions, and Eboni carbon in the MK, PK, and GLOP positions. I like the results, and it's simple and very economical. There've been some criticisms of the "grain" in the middle-gray tones but when I think of a similar size print in a film/silver print I don't worry about it. > > > > > > Am using Premier Art Fine Art Hot Press 205 paper and have printed 5x7's, 8 1/2 x 11's, and 13 x 19's - only problem has been that occasionally a sheet of paper feeds right through without printing. But usually running through a sheet of water color paper sprayed with alcohol does the trick and/or cleaning the large rubber wheel at the far right of the paper entry. > > > > > > Anything else I can help you with? > > > > > > Oh, one more thing... I've submitted some test prints to Aardenburg Imaging & Resources for longevity testing, see my combination third one down: http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/index.html I do a fair amount of historic building documentation and these prints are now acceptable as equal to or better than darkroom prints. But with Aardenburg's stamp of approval in a month or so (I hope!) I'll have more argument in my favor. > > > > > > Regards. > > > > > > Paul > > > > > > --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "bobtail75" <cperfect594@> wrote: > > > > > > > > Have any of you had excperience of using refillable carts filled with the MIS cleaning fluid instead of colour inks? I only use the 1800 for b/w printing.I love the 3MK set-up, especially now that Canson, Moab & Innova papers are available here. The Canson & Innova look very good. Also discovered that the Moab Entrada paper is available in 13" rolls, so next project is some big panoramas. > > > > Chris. > > > > UK/ Devon > > > > > > > > > >
