New guy from Houston

New guy from Houston

2002-02-21 by Bill Giffen

Thanks Tom, I hope to meet some B&W printers here in Houston,
and possibly have a group meeting. I am off to PMA Saturday to mull over
my decisions to purchase a printer and equipment.
I would like to have a 1280. 3000, and a 7500. I also would like to be
able to print for other photogs in the area. I have a nice 1500 sqft
studio in Spring Branch ( sorta west central Houston). I am shooting with
a new D1x, 80-200, and 28-70. I sold my RZ II pro outfit because It was too
much to lug around. Anyway, good to be on this list and everyone have a
great day
Bill

Bill -

Welcome to the group. I think you will find that we have just
recently started any type of meeting of groups. NYC was first, then
Boston, last nite SF and next week Seattle.

Stay tuned, or offer to organize a group and I'm sure you'll see
there are some Texans here...

Hi Bill:

I'm in Houston, work down near the Galleria and live up north
off of 59. Are there any other Houstonians here?

We've done wet b/w work and we're excited about doing it
the digital way.

The only digital b/w print that I have ever seen is the
little sample that came from inkjetmall.com. That looked
nice, but I'm sure there are better examples. It only got
a so-so response from my family.

Perhaps at the PMA show someone might be giving out
BIG samples!

Anyway I think it would be great to organize a Houston
group. Perhaps we should see if there are any other locals
on the group.

I know that the Houston Fotofest is coming up next month. I don't
know if there are any digital prints there...perhaps there might
be some local folks that might not be on this list...or maybe some
folks on the list are traveling to Houston. I've never been
to a Fotofest, so I don't know if that is an event that people
from all over go to.

I requested the report from the Seattle meeting and it looks like
one of the main features was that everyone could see lots of examples
of nice prints, along with talking about methods, etc. Oh, they
had door prizes too...

Anyway have fun at the PMA show and I'm sure that we can get some
kind of group going in Houston.

Oh, and with summer coming up we will be able to test Mr. Kravit's
theory on our humidity's adverse effects on inket prints! ;-)

-John

Hello Houston,

I live about 90 miles away, will be coming over at least one
weekend for fotofest and would enjoy exchanging ideas and
prints. Ever heard of an internet group of mainly BW
photographers, "Zoners."

Hey Houston,
I live in Dallas but will be traveling down to
Houston on the 22nd of March for FotoFest. If any of
you see any exhibitions showing digital work, could
you post them on this list? Or if you have any
recommendations for specific venues, or exhibitions,
please don't hesitate to post.
Here's the link to all the exhibitions..

So many exhibitions! -Should be interesting.
