¿Lyson or Image Specialist?

¿Lyson or Image Specialist?

2010-08-18 by photoarts@rocketmail.com

Hello, I want to know if the inks of pigment Lyson for the Epson R2880 are better than that produced for Image Specialist, since the price of the first ones trebles that of the second ones.

Many thanks.

I'd like to know the answer to that also. I've seem some promising fade test data on http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/, but I've also seen a number of posts, particularlly on other forums, that suggest there are problems with the inks.

By the way, Paul, several weeks ago Aardenburg completed the 20 Megalux-hours stage in my R1800/Eboni/Premier Art FineArt combination submission. The tests continue to do well, and Mark is encouraged. Next round is due in September.

With most of the inksets I tested on the Epson Premier Art Scrapbook paper as well as others, the Premier Art paper turned in the best performance in terms of fade resistance. It even did a bit better than the thicker 325 version that I prefer.

I notice Mark has changed the format of his test results. I'm curious what is behind the changes.

Nothing has changed in terms of the testing protocols or the information one can find in the comprehensive AaI&A test reports. What has changed is that the sample test list now has database Excel-like search and sort capability, and I added columns that are more informative on OBAs, initial media whitepoint, etc. I removed the columns with delta E and I* data (but of course it's all still available in the reports) because this data was just for the current exposure status, so I eventually concluded that it was not so useful in the list and might actually be misconstrued if one didn't compare products at the same megalux hour interval.

I also added batch information because this info will allow people to see what products are being tested side-by-side as a group on a single test unit, and it's also now easier to sort on any batch that has just been updated.

Lastly, I've added an ID# (somewhat easier to track than the longer sample numbers if you are following a particular test) and because the ID # is eventually (hopefully this year) going to have functional capability like the test report column. It will be used to open dynamic graphing of the test results. That way, end-users will be able to instantly compare plots of the I* and delta E changes versus exposure without having to download or study the test reports.

That's where the AaI&A digital print research program is headed.... along with many more new items to go into test. For more info on the new "look" and features of the AaI&A database, please read the "quick reference guide" and "explanation of terms" documents that I also added to the database list page (also on the AaI&A documents page).

cheers,

Mark

It would be of great help if there are people who could comment on Lyson's results and other brands to compare, since as I say, it is important to know if Lyson costs what costs or simply the price is not any more than a bait to place to his inks as the best of the market.

Particularly I do not believe that Lyson is the double of good that those of Image Specialist. His price yes that is the double with which it marks Image Specialist for his inks.
