I was hoping to see something in the "What's New" area about enhanced
16-bit support but saw nothing.

Peter,

I have to agree. The "What's New" seems mighty skimpy for $149! It looks
like there are some nice housekeeping tools added and the healing brush
sounds good, but this is a full version upgrade!?!

I have no doubt that I will follow the rest of lemmings and purchase a copy
very soon. I am very disappointed about the 16-bit but not very surprised.
After all, 8-bit color is just fine for the Web.

Martin

The PDF file on Adobe's PS7 page explains the new features with some nice
screen shots. Hopefully these are not * a l l * of the new features...
Probably most important for Mac folks is native OS X support. The San Jose
Mercury says it will be avilable for purchase in April. Since I skipped 6 I
will definitely grab 7!

Saw it demoed today at PMA.

New tool called "healing" will quickly (1-3 seconds) erase wrinkles,
eye-bags. Another will repair cracks, spots, folds, in 'old' B&W photos.
Strong retouching, spotting tools.

A couple of features that sound pretty cool are the file browser and
management ability, the enhcanced picture package automation and the
updated contact sheet abilities.

But, to tell you the truth... If the healing touch up tools are half
as good as they sound, that alone will be well worth the upgrade to
any one scanning old negs and slides???

They seem to have updated their brush engine to make painting much
better, especially watercolor brushes...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
