Epson 1400 Black Only

Hi all, As I just said I have bought a couple of 1400s. Playing around with the one which has Epson Colour carts in it, and printing a monochrome image, as usual it is terrible as colour appears in various areas of the image. However, I tried setting paper type to "Plain Paper" and quality to "Fine" and ticking the "Grayscale" box it appears to print using only the black cart. On satin paper the first print was surprisingly good. On my system adding +10 brightness and -10 contrast the next print was well in the ballpark of acceptable. Hope this might be of interest as a way of printing the odd Mono glossy, without much hassle. Keith Dgdale.
