Solarization

2011-05-05 by Susan Koons

Hello, I have searched for the topic on what appears to be solarized tones and need some help. I am just started using an epson 1400 with the eboni 6 set. If I go to the epson 1400 driver on just grayscale, the prints come out fine. As soon as I use the Quad tone with the entrada natural curves the image goes to pieces.Shadows are close, but, midtones are really bad. What I am hoping for is where to even start at correcting the tones when using the curves. thank you Dan

That is a good sign. In my PDF on Eboni-6, I recommend people start with the Epson driver. See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-6.pdf

In fact, I'm not sure there are any Eboni-6 QTR profiles in my profiles Zip file. I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that those who use the rip knew how to make their own profiles.

The Epson driver with ICCs made with QTR's "Create ICC-RGB" makes an excellent workflow for Eboni-6 in the 1400.

I suspect you're using a profile that was not intended for Eboni-6. Be sure the profile name says "Eb6" or "Eboni-6" in the name of the profile.

Again, start with the Epson driver workflows, including the ICCs that have Eb6 in the names.

Hope this helps.

I followed your suggestion, and the prints are coming out great. Thanks Dan
