Strange color prints after QTR update...

Strange color prints after QTR update...

2011-08-31 by CelluloidPhotography

I'm cross posting this from the QTR group as there seems to be more activity here.

I grabbed the QTR update to V2.7.2.0 last week, updating an older version I never used. I installed the QTR driver for my 9600 (running K7 if that maters) and the 11880, so far I've only played around with the 96, haven't jumped in with the big one yet.

I have since noticed a strange thing when trying to print normal color images, and I'm wondering if it's related to QTR.
Most of my color printing is done on a PC ripstation, though for certain
applications I print directly out of photoshop on the mac (I'm running 10.5.8 by
the way). I went to do that a few days ago (as far as I know I hadn't printed on the
mac since updating QTR), and I got one strange looking print! It looks like the
printer laid down horizontal black lines (about 1/16" apart, composed of all
inks, not just black- it looked like one trippy moire pattern after the first few passes, before it filled in the rest of the lines) and then printed the image normally on top of that. The lines span the entire width and height of the paper, not just the actual image area. I
tried both CS3 & 4 with the same result. I removed the QTR 11880 driver, and
re-added the normal 11880 in sys prefs all to no avail. The only thing I did
not do was remove the new version of QTR. Prints coming out of the RIP look
totally normal, so it's definitely something on the mac causing the problem.

I realize this isn't a black and white issue, but I'm pretty sure it's related to QTR so I thought it was still relevant to this group.

Thanks for any input!

Eric,

From what you are saying I gather you are printing with the Epson 11880
driver. I don't know of anyway the QTR driver could be interfering with it.
