Is there any hope for 1400 printer

Is there any hope for 1400 printer

2012-03-24 by Geraldine l

Hello,

I cannot get the second position in my Epson 1400 to print anything. It is probably my fault because I left it sit for 4 weeks.
I have tried the windex pad on the parking deck. I have tried "rocket blaster" injection of the nozzle with absolutely no sign of any ink from the nozzle. I have been trying all this repeatedly over the past week

Is this the end? Could there be something else wrong? I ask this because the level of ink in the cart is going down, but I have no idea where it is going. Is there any way to get at the print head to see what is happening?

Is there any point bringing it to a repair place or would that cost more than a new printer?

I always recommend cleaning solution designed to work with the ink you were using in your printer. Most reputable companies offer a cleaning solution that is designed to work with their inks. If it is our inks (MIS) I have 3 recommendations.

1. We offer a cleaning solution on our Accessories Page. This solution is designed to work with all of our inks as well as OEM. As we have not tested it with every manufacturer's inks we can only guarantee that it is chemically compatible with our inks and OEM ink.

2. You can use a very diluted mix of household cleaning ammonia and distilled water (1 part ammonia to 8-10 parts water) on the park pad as a cleaning agent. I would limit this to 2-4 hours and not days as the ammonia is not an ideal cleaning agent. This solution will not have the correct physical properties to be used for cleaning cartridges so I do not recommend filling cartridges with it.

3. Avoid windex with isopropyl alcohol as the alcohol will remove water from the ink in the printhead and make a bad clog worse.

Make sure to install cartridges while cleaning the printhead with this method as you can dry out the posts in the printhead if you leave them dry while cleaning.
