Print Resolution and so what is the best PPI.

Hi all Was looking up epson 7890 and found that the resolution is 2880 x 1440 dpi; 1440 x 1440 dpi; 1440 x 720 dpi; 720 x 720 dpi; 720 x 360 dpi; 360 x 360 dpi What does this means? How would this affect the PPI?
