I love this "look," so I'm wondering if anyone has a paper/ink combo that comes close, preferably using PS or LR. I know there are a number of commercial presets that claim to do it, but I haven't seen any I really like. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Lew, When you talk Platinum/palladium are you thinking warm and textured? I don't use LR for output and the best combination, Peizotone Sepia, that I had was discontinued this year. However, the Epson printers using ABW I have a setting for my 4800 that I am quite happy with. I like the William Turner 190 as one look of a PT/PD print. there are of course many papers that work. Eric, would you mind sharing your 4800 ABW settings for platinum/palladium? From what I can tell, a lot of the "look" of these prints comes from their matte paper base. In terms of tones/hues, warm seems to be about as good a description as I've seen. The various processes seem to result in different degrees of warmth. From what I've been able to tell, using 100% carbon pigments on a natural paper comes within the range of these prints and also gives one as close as possible with inkjet technology to the longevity that the platinum/palladium prints appear to achieve. (On that front, I wonder what the strong chemicals do to the paper base.) It may be that using the warmer carbon like Cone sepia or MIS LK, etc. (a full range there) would be slightly better than the MIS Eboni based inksets. There are enough MIS carbons to easily put together an Epson driver compatible set. The 220 UT R2 warm was essentially such a set. I would set it up a little differently if one is comfortable with minor PS curves adjustments and making an ICC for the easiest printing workflow. I'll tell you what I do to make it. With QTRs handy 100 step scale, I open up the ABW setting and dial in some settings until it gets close to a range, and there you have it. Different papers require more or less Dmax, . I'll get you close on Monday. I don't have it saved on this computer. If one has a profile maker, Profile Maker 5, Datacolor equipment, etc, you can certainly make a profile to do the same thing and I have. This is the down and dirty way for just using the ABW. Anytime someone wants to do a PT/PD print match, I would question whose prints that they have seen so I could get them a little closer to expectations. And as Paul started to go towards, the special ink sets vs standard color sets... how are you trying to get there; the look.
