OT: Files

2002-03-04 by Neil Cotty

Hi all,

Please excuse my stupidity <G>, but I've seen many references to the files
section of the Group, but whenever I log in to Yahoo, there is no actual
hyperlink on the 'Files' menu... Are they located somewhere else?

Many thanks,
Neil

Neil,

when you come to the group's home page, is there not a column of underlined
blue links on the left? There should be a line that says Files.
I am guessing you are not seeing our home page somehow?

Neil,
It's staring you right in the face! Look to the left of this window
and you will find a list of links starting with "Home", "Messages"
etc. The fifth one down is "Files"

Panoramic Camera Suggestions

2002-03-06 by THOMAS MOORE

This may be off the subject, but I'm contemplating the purchase of a
panoramic camera. Any thoughts out there on the Russian made Horizon 120 or
the Horizont? Any recommendations would be greatly. Thanks in advance!!

I was thinking the same. Was looking at the Lookaround
panoramic camera made by Alan Zinn.

Alan,

Can you tell us more about it - as the last time I checked your
website it does not go into too much detail? Do you have to wind
it up? How does it work? Can you adjust angle of coverage?

Best,

John V.

My sister used to live in Russia and she broughtme a "Gorizont" when
she moved back to the states. It's a pretty cool little camera - it
shoots
double-sized frames on 35mm to make long panoramic negatives.

Quality is rather good, I think. (Mine is the old-style metal
body, can't speak for the new-style plastic models)

Mine cost about $200 in Moscow, and a friend recently bought one on
ebay for around $275 (though it was apparently slightly
malfunctioning) so these should be rather affordable.

I do think the lens could stand to be more contrasty - panoramas I
took with it on a recent trip to Italy were disappointing in that
department, tho pretty nice in others :)
