Printing a list...?

Printing a list...?

Can you print a list of all the files from Windows Explorer?
I usually save things in either a WIP file or a finished file and
wanted to simply print the file reference of everything in those
particular files.

TIA,
Cleavis

Cleavis,

As far as I know, you can't print a file list from Windows Explorer (at
least on W2K I can't see how). You could... get a Mac, since they've been
able to do this forever. (kidding ;-) Or you could use something like SnagIt
(http://www.snagit.com/) to do a screen capture. The cool thing about
SnagIt, is that it can scroll the contents of a window when it does a screen
grab, in case your list is too long to fit onscreen all at once - something
you can't do with "Alt + PrintScreen". This is particulary awesome for
making screen grabs of web pages.

Clevis, I often capture directories, for every CD I burn. I go to the
command prompt and type
dir >dir.txt

This generates a text file of the contents. One could probably still
pipe that to a printer, but I've not tried.

Although it's not built into the operating system, there are a number of
shareware and freeware utilities that let you do this. A simple search
should bring up lots of choices.

You could try this to start with:

http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptdirprn.asp

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
