risky to use outdated ink?

risky to use outdated ink?

2016-07-09 by paulmwhiting@...

I still have some Eboni 1.0, and according to the label it expired last December. Do I risk clogged heads or worse by using it? Perhaps it's false economy to use it.

Thanks,

Paul W.

Hi Paul,

I still have a little bit of Eboni 1.0 that expired way way before 12/2015 and it still works fine. It won't be long before I have to order some 1.1, though.

If you agitate the bottle, and then wait a day or two for the "Klunkers" (Bob Zeiss's term) to settle, you'll probably be OK. Just don't use the ink near the bottom of the bottle.

Good luck.

You had better order now, Mike, if you expect to ever get it.

I ordered 29June, paid right away, and cannot get an email reply to support form, nor anyone to answer the phone.

It's almost like we don't need this stuff and they'll get around to it when they feel like it.

I'm going to get mine from printerfillingstation.com. They have the Ink Specialists WJ1082 (Eboni 1.1 MK) and the Ink Specialists WJ1122 (Eboni 1.1 PK) for way less than MIS. And they are in the same state as where I live.

STS inks tells me that printerfillingstation.com no longer purchases any ink from STS even though they are using the WJ.... names on some of their inks.

In short, this is not a legitimate alternative.

Re: [Digital BW] Re: risky to use outdated ink?

I have never seen such a list, and I doubt STS wants to share such information. Most businesses I know of consider customer lists to be highly proprietary. On the other hand, a company that is representing that it has the ink when they are not a customer would be in STS's interests to expose. So, I'd guess we'll have to go an a case-by-case basis.

Starting with B&W

2017-01-27 by Globe Trotteur

Ok, i am going to give inkjet/Carbon print a try after I saw the
examples on Paul's web site. I am still using my darkroom but it looks
like the inkjet prints now are really good and the setup is not as time
consuming.
I have an epson 2200 right now with a CIS. Is that a suitable printer ?
Also, i have been on Paul's site and there are so much data that I am
overwhelmed. When i go to MIS web site, I see one huge bottle of ink (I
think I was looking at eboni 6).
Do you put the same ink on each of the 7 tanks ? Or each tank has a
separate kind of ink ?
Maybe these are dumb questions.
Anyway, what would be the best B&W ink to use to create a neutral print
with white/white and black/black on a 2200 printer?

Thanks
