A client has requested a sign to place flat on the wall, next to one of my photos that hangs in the office lobby.

She's looking for brushed aluminum/ matte gray with black type 6in. X 6in. I'm having the devil of the time finding a source. Help Please!

Try a trophy store. They often do engraving other than trophies.

I suggest that you consider a laser engraved plastic sign. Brushed silver surface. Black letters. A local engraver should be able to help you.
