You have to use a paper that will allow you to get those deep blacks. Try Epson Archival Matte or most any Hahnemuhle paper.

Print the MIS purge pattern (see the MIS website to get one) and be sure the
black ink is clearly darker than the cyan (dark gray).

The purge patter is found at:

(That is, the first step is to be sure you have the right inks.)

Along the same line of thought, when you hold a print on GAM up to a light
there are a surprising lot of details visible in the black area that isn't
there in the reflected light. Even though the over-all balance of the print
is acceptable the latent black tones beg to be realized better. I am
guessing that the dot gain setting could be tweaked some more but wonder
what the limits are where it just can't get better?
