Ready to print B&W ( please help)

Ready to print B&W ( please help)

2002-03-30 by Bill Giffen

Ok, I have been printing color for the last few weeks and while they look
great ( only dye based ink proofs) I am ready to move on to B&W

I need INK. Do I get the 7000 cart or go ahead with the 9000 carts ?

which brand ?? MIS, GEN, Lysonic, I am confused by all the reports. It seems
that they all have some quirks.

Which papers. I do not want to commit to rolls yet, and I really like the
flat sheets.
I will be using Imageprint rip with my 7000

I am also building a new computer system and was wondering how many of you
are using a dual processor. I know Photoshop has some multiprocessor uses
but besides that is there any other reasons??. I will use a amd 2k or Intel
2.2 SCCI scratch disc, and a raid 1 IDE drive array.

Thanks Bill

I will share my results with the list for sure.
Am I cross posting to Digital fine art and epson 9k list as well

Congratulations. With your setup (ImagePrint4 and 7000) the
easiest way to go would be MIS FS, what else?
As far as I know MIS VM inks are not supported yet by the RIP,
and Cone inks are much more expensive - though not better
than MIS FS. Well, Lyson Quads are supported, but I don´t really
know much about them. Didn´t print them for more than a year
and a half. Because I was not satisfied then, I switched to Cone.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
