You can't use third party plugins with photoshop 7. Says so in the manual. You have to get updated drivers for all of them, which in my case
is about 300 plugins from a couple dozen manufacturers, some of which are long gone. This is a REAL problem, as I use some of them daily. So
I have to use system 9.2 if I want to use my plug ins. :(.

Have you noticed also that photoshop 7 running in system 9 is slower than molasses? Like 5 or 10 times slower when saving or using some of
the filters?

I have no difficulty going to Get Info, and checking the "boot as classic
application" checkbox, and launching as a classic app within OS X... so its
not universal, but specific to some issue with your system. I also have no
problem running (at least some) non-carbonized plugins once I have launched
PS& in this manner.

No problem using old plugins with PS7...but must operate under classic...see
my previous post. Too bad they don't tell you how in the online help....

Running under OSX, using PS7 running in classic...my performance is really
good...seems faster than PS6 running under the same conditions. This
includes Genuine Fractals and Nik Sharpener Pro which are both very
processor intensive. I'm running a dual G4 450 with 1.5 gB of RAM.

Yep...just took me a while to find the "boot as classic application"
box...this is the key. It would have been nice if Adobe put this in their
help section.
