question for photoshop 7 users...

2002-04-22 by Jerry Olson

Hi,

Does anybody know how to get to the transfer curve settings in photoshop 7? I don't see any way to address this, looks like it has been left
out of the dialogue boxes.

Shows up in the print dialogue box for me exactly where it always did.

Are you on a PC? I'm on OSX

PS7 with OSX

2002-04-22 by Robert Morrison

Installed PS7 yesterday on my OSX.13 machine. I installed it both in OSX
and in the classic environment. I've been unable to get the program to open
in classic, however, unless I boot from OS9.2.2. Thus, I can't use any of
the plugins. It seems from the Photoshop help files that it should be
possible to open photoshop within classic...but perhaps they mean while
booted from classic. Anybody have an idea? Otherwise it looks like
everything but actions and curves will be dead for a while...unless you
reboot the machine.

I'm pretty sure that since it's a carbon app, it will open natively in
whatever OS you have booted into.

So yes, as far as I can tell, until the plugins are carbonized (so far
only KPT seems to be) it looks like we're out of luck for plugins
under OSX.

Do actions still work? Some of mine are acting pretty funky, but I'm
still playing with the beta. (University bookshop doesn't have
educational copies yet :/ )

Boot into 9.2, give ps7 no more than 360 megs min/preferred memory, and
reboot into X. This worked for me. If that doesn't work, I don't know what
the problem is.
I can't export from piezo unless ps7 in running classic...which is a real
drag and hard to imagine why cone's people couldn't carbonize piezo by now.

BINGO!

Double install PS7...once in the applications folder on your OSX partition
and once in the applications (OS9) folder on your Classic partition. Do the
classic install while booted from OS9.2.2. The reboot in OSX. Find the PS7
icon in your applications os9 foler. Click on it once...go to file show
info. Click on the General information tab and simiply click the open in
classic box. Now if you open from this icon you will be in Classic PS7 and
all your plugins will work. If you open from the OSX PS7 icon in the other
folder you will be in OSX and your old plugins won't work. Although this
sounds bad...it isn't. The file browser (which is an excellent feature and
in my opinion is worth the price of admission...not to mention the healing
brush) even works with geniune fractals and .nef files. This provides a
nice transition. I figure I will work in classic most of the time until the
new plugins show up.

Then Piezo software uses the Epson printer drivers. For the Piezo software to be able to run under OS X, Epson drivers for OS X are necessary. If you're using the 1160 printer, there are no OS X drivers. For Cone Technologies to rewrite the Epson drivers would not be a trivial effort for a small company.
