List Problems

List Problems

2002-04-26 by Martin Wesley

I have noticed that some of the posts to the list have lost their subject lines when they are e-mail to me from Yahoo. The subject is there on the list but not on the e-mail version. (Hence my earlier cranky post about subject lines.) I am also receiving some duplicate copies of posts.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I am wondering if it is a Yahoo problem or a problem with my ISP.

Thanks,
Martin Wesley

I am also receiving some duplicate copies, subject lines are ok, so it
must be Yahoo.

I'm seeing it - and my filter which sorts them out into a special mail
folder quit working.

A little more checking on mine. Probably about half of mine have the
subject line missing, but if I examine the expanded header (in Eudora), the
Subject line is there but it has been concatenated to the date line before
it and therefore, does not show up as a separate subject line.

Haven't found an explanation yet for why about half of the posts go to my
special folder and the rest wind up in my In-Box.

I'm on several other Yahoo! lists also and see some of the same problem on
them, although so far, the filters work OK on them.

Martin,

I've been getting the dupes, but haven't noticed the missing subject lines.

Martin -

The majority of the emails I received today did not have anything in the
subject line either. That is annoying because this is a tatic that spammers
have started using.

James,

Thanks for the feedback. I just got another block of about 25 posts
by e-mail with no subject lines. I am using Outlook Express and in
the details of the message the subject has been appended to the date
field.

Yahoo strikes again. I guess this is one way to push you into reading
the list on line and looking at all their ads. I am probably being
paranoid and it is just another software foul up.
