CIS cart flushout?

CIS cart flushout?

2002-05-06 by garrysarre

I am not having much joy with using 1280 curves for the 890. I was
warned by Paul that they are would be a bit iffy. Consequently I
need to swap inks from sepia-neaurteal to MIS colour pigs. Any
suggestions for flushing?

Bob Z. at MIS said that the best thing to do was to buy a new set of carts
and tubes for about $35. The carts have sponges in the bottom of them and
it is virtually impossible to get all of the old ink out.

These are chipped carts/ It's a Niagra CIS and cost US$290 to buy
and get it here. I dont think the MIS solution comes with chips and
USB support. I think I would have to do the whole kit and kaboodle.
I thought there might be some magic way to flush through distilled
water by letting it siphon down the tubes into th carts and out the
bottom. At least that would get rid of the bulk of the dark inks, I
could put up with diluted inks better than muddy inks.

Garry -

Maybe someone can jump in here who knows for sure, but I have heard the
NoMoreCarts system (which is what I believe the Niagra system really is) may
not have the sponge filters inside their carts. If true, that would make
you changeover much easier than with the MIS system. You might email your
supplier and ask them for their best recommendations.
