PiezoTone initial midtone fade test results

PiezoTone initial midtone fade test results

2002-06-30 by Paul Roark

Here is just a quickie with respect to the PiezoTone fade test compared to
the FS and FS-N. It is only at 96 hours, so these are very preliminary.
(Also, I have to hit the road, so this is going to be brief.)

In general, the midtone PT faded the least and warmed 0.01 units (difference
between cyan and yellow readings on X-Rite).

The FS-N showed some fade, and the same 0.01 warming. The FS showed some
fade and 0.02 units of warming.

Visually, the FS is the only one that has some warming in the midtones.

In the shadows -- 90% and 100% -- the PT faded and warmed the most, as would
be expected from the black only test done previously. The shadow warming is
visible in the test strips, but it might not be in prints.

It's too early to say a lot about these test strips. All look fine at this
point. I would say, however, that the PT midtones appear to be very good
inks.
