Epson 980 with MIS Quadtone and PictureWindow

Epson 980 with MIS Quadtone and PictureWindow

2002-07-04 by by_design

Does anyone know where to find curve files for MIS inks in the Epson
980, that doesn't require paying a fortune for PhotoShop? I love
PictureWindow, and would like to experiment with MIS Quadtones in my
980. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Kiefer:

You could try the RGB partitioned curves/workflow developed for the
quad 1160 or the lumped (non-partitioned) curve/workflow developed by
Woolf. Both were developed for EAM/EEH. I haven't tried them on the
980--maybe someone elso reading this might have experimented.

These workflows can be downloaded from the MIS website (Quad workflow
page) at:

http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/workflow.html.

My workflow and an outline of how I developed the workflow using
PWpro (profile_make2.pdf) are also posted here in
Files/InkSets/MIS/MIS FS.

The pdf should give you guidance of how to optimize the RGB curves
(or lumped curve if you go that way) for your quad printer. PWpro is
ideal for this, much easier than PhotoShop because of PW's overall
superior curves/histogram feature. The screen shot in the pdf is from
PW.

BTW: Jonathan Sachs modified PW sometime ago to read PhotoShop .acv
and map files so PS is not needed to print BW.

Good Luck.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
