Re the 4x5, you might give these a try:

Tmax 100 developed in Tmax RS 1:9 (the John Sexton formula). I use EI 64 normal, N-2 = 40, N+2 =100. Scans very well, and you'll pick up a lot of speed in low-light situations compared to TriX because of the reciprocity differences.

Bergger 200 developed in Rollo pyro.

Doubt you'll see much quality improvement compared to TX/HC110, but the Tmax is sure convenient in low light. It also is excellent for compensating development in very dilute Tmax RS.

While we are on films and developers - I would like some input. For most
of my medium format work I used Kodak PanX either developed in very
dilute (1:100) Rodinal or the Zone VI developer. Pan X is no longer
available and I long since run out of my stock in the freezer. So I'm
looking for a new 120 film. After doing some research I decided to give
the Ilford Delta 100 a shot. I've found a couple developers that "claim"
to give good results with this film - one from Photographers Formulary
and two from Patterson (one being a two part developer which claims
  great latitude and flexibility).

Has any one had any experience with either this film these developers or
these combinations. Any other suggestions out there. Same question for
4x5. I currently use TriX/dilute HC110 but if there is something better,
  I'm all ears.

  Thanks
  Truman

Jerry,

I concur. I develop it in D-76 1:1. I like its tonality a BIT better than
Plus-X...Delta seems a bit more neutral, more like Tri-X. Plus-X seems
"rich" to me.

Austin

Delta 100 is probably the best 120 film out there in its speed range.
Why not just use ID-11 1:1? Works great.

I like TMax 100 and xtol 1:2 in a rotary processor using speeds set according to "Beyond the Zone System" settings. I think I might like xtol 1:1 1/2 better, but haven't had time to go through all of the testing.

Check-out this photographer's - Brian Kosoff's - personal work. He uses tmax-
100 4x5 with xtol 1:2 in a Jobo. Saw his prints a few years ago - outstanding!

You are, of course, becoming increasingly awed by Austin's
powers (did I make that one up first? Yeah, baby!) of persuasion.
Works for me...
