Martin, I just printed a Color print on a 11x17 sheet of Eclipse this morning. It is gorgeous. It is Brilliant! I used the MIS archival
pigment inks and Beta Black from Generations. It couldn't be nicer. I won't be using it for Piezo inks, or with Epson inks.

Jerry

This paper will replace torchon as soon as I've used up my supply of torchon. The Torchon profile works perfectly on the Eclipse paper!
Today is a good day!

Jerry

The inks you used were they the MIS color pigment inks? There are so
many inks I have trouble keeping up with them.

Jerry,
I reread your post and realize you were using the color pigments.
Which profile were you using with Torchon, was it the heavtweight
matt profile found in the canned profiles on the 1280? Is that the
same profile used with the Eclipse Satine you used to make your 11x17
print? Thx.

Nope, a custom made profile from CD Tobie.

Jerry,

Sounds great!

Have you put any of the Eclipse Satine up in that South window of
yours? I will stick some in my West window to see how it fades.

Jerry, how do you think this paper will print with enhanced generations

Are you speaking of enhanced Generations QUAD inksets? I didn't know they were out yet.

Eclipse prints beautifully on my 1280 printer with the MIS Hextones and VM black. I would think the quads would be as nice, with Paul's
curves. Visually I think the blacks are nearly identical. Paul Roark says the Epson Archival has the blackest blacks of any paper's he's seen to
date. Eclipse is a beautiful paper, you should at least try it.

Re: [Digital BW] Eclispe Satine was Re: MIS VM Initial Impressions and Questions

Randy, I assume you have the "Enhanced" black ink, (Which used to be the beta black) along with your color generations?

I've only printed on the paper with the mis hextones and the MIS archival pigments, along with the generations beta black. I've heard from people who
know that the two inksets are practically identical, and compatible if you mix them. The Generations 4th version yellow is lighter than the MIS
yellow, other than that I can see no difference in prints at all from either set.

Blacks seem just fine on eclipse paper. Give it a try, it's not too expensive in the letter size. Its $21 for 25 sheets of lettersize in the 300 GSM
weight, and $16.95 for the 190 gsm weight. They say its 100 percent cotton rage, pH neutral, and good for dyes AND pigment.

Having used both mis and generations inks, I honestly don't see much difference in the prints. Since I've profiled my printer, the quality of the
prints are excellent.

Try it! You'll Like it!
