Jim,
You were kind enough to help me when I had air/clogs in the lines of a CIS.
Took the CIS off and used carts for printing a show with relative few clogs
before printing. I am about to be out of the printing business on this
machine for about 3 months. From what you are saying it would seem to be a
good idea to take the Piezotone carts out and put in Epson carts. Or is it
just the path that the CIS has to take that is more prone to clogs? Also, I
think I have read that with the new Piezotone inks you DO NEED to use flush
carts because of compatibility issues with the Epson inks. Has anyone else
read this or know it I need to do this or not. Can I go Piezotone to Epson
or do I need to go Piezotone/flush/Epson?

Billie

For three months I think I would even take a dye-based ink out and put
Epson carts in. Then I would get a friend to at least turn it on once
every two weeks or one week maybe. Epson inks slide through the head
like butter, far less clogs- but they still do occur and if it was me
I still wouldn't let it sit idle for over a week or two.

Or is it

I don't know about that. Since the cart is always full, it may work
even better than regular carts, which decrease pressure head with ink
level, but I really don't think anyone knows for sure. The big problem
would be evaporation through the tubing or air getting in the bottom
of the CIS cart, or so I would imagine. I've had both good and bad
luck with vacuum filled carts and CIS/CFS. It seemed to depend more on
the climate than any thing else. And moreso on how long I left printer
idle between prints, even a quickie draft print keeps the nozzles more
behaved than not printing, for me anyway.

I don't have knowledge enough of the new Piezotones so someone else
will have to answer that.

Jim,

Glue for the tubing? Where is the glue used? my cartridges tubes are
just pushed on.
If you tried to glue them on, surely you would get some glue inside the tubes?

Or were you talking about the little black elbow joints that go on the cartridge?

Jer

Just a wild thought, but with the CFS of course, you can buy

Yes I meant for the elbows, which connects to both the tubing and
carts. Glue is put on interface between elbow/cart. Not on
tubing/elbow interface.

Thanks for the input. The part about ink going bad has me
thinking. The CFS system I intalled was new, but the ink was
sitting for about 6 months, never opened. Perhaps that is
causing my drying in the lines. After my next round of printing I'll
install new ink and see if that helps. I tend to print in batches, not
everyday. Sitting for a week or two is common.
