Pretty much true.  You can print on some glossy papers, but you'll need to
spray them with an acrylic protectant such as Krylon clear so that the ink
doesn't come off.

Archival Matte (enhanced matte) is very durable.  It won't smudge.  Photo
rag may be more delicate as the coating might flake off some.
