Cleaning carts question

Cleaning carts question

2002-08-26 by peter_in_seattle

I'm going to be changing from one brand of inks to another, and I
was wondering if anyone can tell me whether there are
differences among the various types of cleaning carts, or
whether one's just as good as another.

I see that ink4art has a set of both BW and color cleaning carts
for the Epson 1160 for $18 (http://www.ink4art.com/icon/
index.asp?method=cj&cc_p_CID=955968842&p_c_Name=
Printer+Cleaning), while Inkjetmall's cleaning carts are $49.50
for both (http://www.inkjetmall.com/store/
darngoodcleaners.html).

ink4art says their cleaning carts are filled with glycerine and
distilled water, but Inkjetmall doesn't clue us in to what their
carts are filled with, other than the fact that they use some
coloring.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Peter

Peter - I've only used the IJM cleaning carts, and I can tell you that
having the coloring agent included in the mix was definitely helpful to me.
I think they worked pretty well, from what I can tell.

Epson uses a solution of nine parts distilled water to one part of
ammonia to clean
their printheads. (this comes from a printer technician). I know ammonia
works pretty good. It dissolves inkjet inks very quickly. Don't know
about glycerin though.
