Hi folks, What would happen to my Epson C80 if I tried to stick in Kodak Polymax fiber based paper into it? Would the inkjet print reasonably well on traditional photographic fiber paper (I wouldn't try glossy however)? How well would the inks sit on it? That would be cool if it would work but if it damages the printer (which I wouldn't suspect) or the inks would smudge or fail to render the picture well then this would save me the time to experiment like that :) Thanks for your help. Alfie

Hi Alfie, I would guess that you could print on it but remember it contains sensitized silver that will darken fairly rapidly on exposure to light unless fixed. Roger

True, unfixed Polymax would suffer from black specks appearing in the print which would have some pretty odd effect. considering that we have tons of Polymax at the local camera shop I wouldn't be surprised how much of it is already unfixed and rather stodgy by now :) Hmm... I wonder what an inkjet print w/ silver specks look like? > Hi Alfie, > > I would guess that you could print on it but remember it contains sensitized silver that will darken fairly rapidly on exposure to light unless fixed. > > Roger

Quality will be terrible. Photo paper just doesn't work in inkjet printers. jerry wangalb wrote:

Surely this is one of the most idot questions asked here, it has to be a "wind up" Or will it start one of those endless useless threads? Please, please do not respond to me, I already know what you are going to say. Lets keep the forum to DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint. Off topic if more than a couple of messages long should be done via private exchanges. Barry --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@y..., Jerry Olson <jerryolson@r...> wrote: > Quality will be terrible. Uh....lighten up, Barry. For all you know, Alfie is looking at doing multimedia work by doing a traditional darkroom print, then adding to it using an inkjet printer. Hardly OT, and in any case hardly up to you to decide, let alone call him an "idiot" for asking a simple question. Doug

Alfie, I asked this question myself a long while back and someone who had tried it with Ilford paper responded. I regret that I do not recall who did the trial. If you do not fix and wash the silver paper it will turn very dark gray with exposure to light. once it has been fixed, washed and dried the surface is very hard and there is no ink penetration. So basically the ink does not stick to the paper. This was done with pigment inks. Perhaps with dye inks it would be a different matter but I am doubtful of success. I did it using the original stylus color in 1993-94 with dye inks and had the same result Martin. Peter on 8/27/02 8:19 PM, Martin Wesley at mwesley250@... wrote:
