printing b&w with MIS 6 color

printing b&w with MIS 6 color

Jerry, thanks for your suggestions in such a timely manner. The only
question that I would like to ask again is why it seems that very
few, if anyone, print b&w photos using the 6 color inkset. Out of
close to 100 different images printed within the last 2 weeks on the
1280, only 4 had a bit of a crosscurve of magenta in the highlights
with green in the shadow, on somerset enhanced paper. There was no
problem on the LPM or EAM. I would like to try the longer lasting
inks (MIS). If I could even come close to how the prints look like
with the epson dyes, I would be happy. Among the color prints that I
do, they are from Polaroid Image Transfers of b&w imagery that is
filtered, ending up in a sepia overall tone with hints of dark green
in the shadows with a slightly salmon color in the highlights. They
have a beautiful tonal range, but the biggest size I can do as
originals is 8x10 polaroid film, the 13x19 enlargements of these
images look 3D, and really beautiful, especially on the somerset
enhanced textured paper, as the originals are on Arches paper. I
would love to hear about some folks personal experiences printing b&w
images with the MIS color inkset. I would guess that there would be
the occasional crosscurve on some papers, but probably corrected on a
different paper.
Thanks again to all.
David
